Work of Art Spiritus Lux

Stefan Lindfors's work of art Spiritus Lux is situated in Jokilaakso in Sipoo. The sculpture is accessible for all and may be admired freely.

In the artist's own words: "Spiritus Lux is an artwork that has traversed the world and human history – over mountains and across sea and land, this sailing vessel has come to a stop in Nikkilä, Finland. The wing of Spiritus Lux shows the direction of the wind and throws light on its surroundings during dark times, while reminding us of the continuity of life."

The chassis of the artwork is made of welded steel and the wing, rotating freely with the wind, is made of welded steel wire mesh and translucent fiber glass. The height of the artwork is 8 metres and its diameter at ground level is 4.5 metres.
